D. Barrett Decorating - The Blog

Quick update

The past month has been mega busy on site so haven't had the time to blog, same goes with my spanish studies! I suppose it's always better to be busy than nothing at all so I can't complain too much. Looks like I could be where I am for a few months yet, hopefully with the flexibility to fit in a couple of jobs as well. Since I started up my own business this January, I haven't looked back. The first four months of the year have been hectic and I am enjoying the fruits of my hard work. Feels good to work hard, get praise for doing so and get more work from it. Also had a few offers from other companies asking me to go work for them the past month, flashback to January 2011 when I couldn't get a days work for an agency then it's all very promising.

I've tried out a couple of new products on site the past two weeks as well. An extra long pile hamilton perfection sleeve and the wooster sliver tip brush. The roller sleeve was superb, held plenty of paint, spread it lovely and left little to none stipple. Perfect for ceilings and large areas, possibly even exterior masonry work. The wooster I picked up on recommendations from painters on various forums. Have to say I have been impressed so far, used to apply water based undercoat and to apply diamond matt emulsions. Done the job flawlessly so I assume it will do the same this week when it is used in water based gloss. will update on that as and when.
